Home Child Care Experience
Throughout her career, Safia has worked directly in home child care environments and has supported children of different ages, developmental stages and learning needs. This experience has given her a strong understanding of what it takes to create a safe, nurturing and engaging program within a home setting.
She understands the realities of caring for a mixed-age group, planning meaningful activities, managing daily routines and meeting the individual needs of each child.
Agency and Administrative Experience
Safia is the founder and director of a licensed home child care agency in Ontario. In this role, she has gained extensive experience in home child care administration, provider recruitment, program oversight, policy development, documentation, inspections, parent communication and regulatory requirements.
Her agency experience has allowed her to see home child care from several perspectives — as an educator, home visitor, administrator and business owner. She understands that providers are responsible not only for caring for children, but also for managing communication, paperwork, programming, professional expectations and the daily operation of their businesses.
Supporting Home Child Care Providers
As a home visitor and agency leader, Safia has worked closely with providers to strengthen their programs and build their professional confidence. Her provider-support experience includes helping with:
- Mixed-age programming and activity planning
- Daily routines and learning environments
- Child guidance and behaviour support
- Documentation and record keeping
- Parent communication and professional boundaries
- Policies, procedures and program organization
- Quality improvement and professional development
Safia believes that provider training should be practical, respectful and realistic. Providers need information that can be understood easily and applied within a busy home child care day.
Why Safia Created the Learning Hub
Safia created Home Child Care Learning Hub after recognizing that home child care providers often have fewer professional development opportunities and practical resources created specifically for their type of program.
Many training programs are designed for large child care centres and do not fully reflect the realities of working alone, caring for multiple age groups, managing a household environment and operating a home child care business.
The Learning Hub was created to close that gap by offering workshops, professional development opportunities and ready-to-use resources specifically for home child care.
Teaching Philosophy
Safia's teaching philosophy is grounded in the belief that learning should be practical, supportive and connected to real experience. She focuses on breaking complex topics into clear, manageable steps that providers can use immediately.
She believes that every provider brings valuable knowledge, strengths and lived experience to their work. Her role is not simply to provide information, but to help providers recognize their abilities, strengthen their practices and continue developing as confident child care professionals.
